Not only is he the 2008 People’s Sexiest Man Alive but Hugh Jackman can now add Oscar Host to his resume.

“because we want the ceremony to be fun,” says Laurence Mark, producer of the telecast.
“He can hold the screen and he can hold a stage. It doesn’t hurt that he looks amazing in a tuxedo and he’s the Sexiest Man Alive.”
Does Hugh Jackman seem like an odd choice to host the Oscars. Last year’s host, Jon Stewart, was awesome. And the year before that we had Ellen DeGeneres. Two great comediens. Hugh has some big shoes to fill.

ABC will broadcast the Oscar ceremony live from the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles on Feb. 22.

Scarlett Johansson breaks her silence about her wedding to Ryan Reynolds in January’s issue of UK Cosmopolitan.
Scarlett Johansson on married life:
“This is a very beautiful time for me. Getting married is a huge moment in anyone’s life, and the few months leading up to it were a little crazy,”
“But Ryan and I are in love, and we’re enjoying evolving our relationship together. I feel that my life and my work are heading in the right direction.”
Johnasson — who has dated Jared Leto and Josh Harnett — admits that prior to meeting Reynolds she was in situations before where a guy hasn’t been into her.
“It’s either they don’t want to commit or put in the effort, or they’re too involved in their own thing,” she says. “You don’t always meet the right person at the right time, and I think it’s important for people to figure out their own lives before involving someone else – to gauge where you are and work on your own issues.”
On her new hubby, Ryan Reynolds, she says:
”he has a very romantic side. We both enjoy remembering little things that made us happy – for me, that’s what romance is all about.
“My mom is a romantic person, and I think I inherited it from her,” she continues. “She’s very thoughtful and taught me there are many different ways you can be romantic.”
The most romantic love, Johnasson adds, “is seeing people who’ve been together, or who’ve known each other, for a long time – like two best friends, or a husband and wife who’ve been together for 50 years, and are still so excited to see that person come home.
“It might be rare,” she points out, “but that’s the most romantic kind of love.”
Scarlett seems content and happy. Marriage can do that to a person.

Miley Cyrus, who turned 16 last month, didn’t get the car she was hoping for!
“I took my mom’s old car,” Miley, told Extra on Thursday.
“I didn’t get the one I wanted, but I got the old car, which wasn’t so bad because it was Porsche…. it was a pretty good hand me down.”
A Porsche for a hand me down – not bad for a 16 year old who just got her permit 2 days ago. That and a Golden Globe Nomination in the same week – I would call that a GREAT week.
Miley was nominated for her song, “I Thought I Lost You” for Bolt, the animated movie.

Private Practice’s Kate Walsh and her husband of one year, Alex Young, are divorcing.
According to court papers obtained by PEOPLE, Alex Young petitioned for a divorce, citing irreconcilable differences in his Nov. 22 filing.
Back in 2007, Kate Walsh, a newlywed at the time, talked openly about their whirlwind relationship, telling Ellen DeGeneres on her show,
“There was this kind of funny moment, after we were like we’re married and all of the hoopla was over and we were like, ‘What do we do now?’
“We’re married, she said at the time.” ” Alright, I guess we just live and love and learn from each other.”
So much for happily ever after.

We have all seen Tom Cruise play an action hero, jump on couches – but has anyone ever heard him sing? I have never had the honor of hearing Tom Cruise sing (i’m not sure if I even want to) but he recently told Entertainment Tonite Canada:
“I always wanted to do a musical, and I’m glad musicals are now back in vogue,” says the self-proclaimed Sound of Music fan. “I gotta sing, I gotta dance and I’m going to figure all that out.”
As far as starring in a movie opposite his wife Katie Holmes?
“I would love it. Look at Newman and Woodward: if you find the right project … I’m not opposed to doing that. I love her work as an actress.”
Cruise, who told the show that he has seen Holmes 20 times in her Broadway debut, All My Sons, has even considered following his wife to the stage.

And the rumors continue. According to the Daily News, Gwyneth Paltrow is desperately trying to save her troubled marriage.
A close friend of the couple stated that, Gwyneth Paltrow and her husband, Coldplay rocker Chris Martin, are holed up in their London home “trying to make their marriage better”.
Gwyneth is so committed, “she’s staying overseas until the holidays are over,”
I’m not sure about this one – maybe she’s staying overseas because that’s where she lives?? It’s nice to spend the holidays with the family.
