Michael Phelps is paying for the now famous photo of him smoking a bong – in a big way!!

Kellogg’s is dropping Michael as a corn flakes spokesman.

Kellogg’s made a statement:

“We originally built the relationship with Michael, as well as the other Olympic athletes, to support our association with the U.S. Olympic team. Michael’s most recent behavior is not consistent with the image of Kellogg. His contract expires at the end of February and we have made a decision not to extend his contract.”

Michael was also suspended from competition and denied financial support for three months by USA Swimming, the sport’s national governing body.

“This is not a situation where any anti-doping rule was violated, but we decided to send a strong message to Michael because he disappointed so many people, particularly the hundreds of thousands of USA Swimming member kids who look up to him as a role model and a hero,” the federation says in a statement. “Michael has voluntarily accepted this reprimand and has committed to earn back our trust.”

Michaels other sponsors, including Speedo, Omega watch and Visa, have stuck by him.

What do you think – should Michael have been dropped by Kellogg’s and been denied financial support by USA Swimming??

  1. It so sad for Americans to be so stupid! one there is no prof he smoked he could of just been joking around. Also Marijuana has been used for thousands of years by the Chinese as medicine for certain illnesses and constipation. Americans can take many genetically altered drugs and get addicted but when someone allegedly smokes pot they are in shock. Note to all the stupid americans that think pot is a drug not a plant, It doesnt help you swim faster…….
